Jee and Kent are speaking on Wednesday, May 22 at IPDPS’13. If you are attending, be sure to check out their talks!

  • Kenneth Czechowski and R. Vuduc. “A theoretical framework for algorithm-architecture co-design.” Session 17, 1:30-3:30pm.

Kent and Jee will each present a paper at IPDPS’13, to be held in Boston in May. Kent’s paper is about a unique take on high-level algorithm-architecture co-design; Jee’s paper is about his “roofline” energy model. If you plan to attend, be sure to see their talks! VECPAR’12 + K Supercomputer

Rich has the pleasure of being at the 10th International Meeting on High-Performance Computing for Computational Science (VECPAR), held this year at RIKEN AICS research facility in Kōbe (神戸市), Japan. RIKEN is home of the amazing K Supercomputer, shown here (only partly obstructed by Rich’s head, which he wishes had as much computing power).

Rich is especially grateful to the VECPAR organizers and other hosts (here, here, here, and here, among others) for the chance to speak, to see the K Computer, and to sample Kobe beef (yes, it’s that good!). For those interested in the talk, here is a link to Rich’s slides: [PDF].

ISC’12 + EIHECS’12

Rich is in Germany this week giving invited talks at ISC’12 (Hamburg) and EIHECS’12 (Erlangen) on our theoretical co-design work. The big news at the meeting in Hamburg is the latest Top500 list, which IBM’s Blue Gene/Q machine dominates this year. However, Germany’s SuperMUC system is also making a big splash. The meeting in Erlangen is a cozy local affair, and a great opportunity to meet members of the top international groups in computational science and performance engineering. Many thanks to the hosts at both events!

IPDPS’12

Aparna, Jee, and Rich are having East-meets-West moments in Shànghǎi (上海) this week for the IEEE Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS). Aparna and Jee are part of the PhD Forum, and Rich is giving a talk at EduPar-12 and serving as a panelist on the topic of exascale algorithms [IPDPS program].

Aparna, Jee, and Rich are at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia this weekend. Well, it’s a work-week for the Saudis. We are presenting and schmoozing with a full slate of amazing attendees of the [Scalable Hierarchical Algorithms for eXtreme Computing] (SHAX-C) workshop.
